Vehicles for Veterans Auto Donation Program
We accept all vehicles running or not and also accept RV’s, boats, and motorcycles.
What do we do with your Auto Donation?: The MN DAV is partnered with Metro Metal Auctions who handles all of the title paperwork and schedules free auto donation pickups. Once your vehicle is donated and all the title work is processed the vehicle is evaluated. If the vehicle is deemed to be unsellable it will be processed for scrap. If the vehicle is deemed sellable it will be cleaned and processed for auction.
What kind of deduction can I receive?: Per IRS law you will receive a $500 deduction at the time your vehicle is picked up. If your vehicle is placed on auction and sells for more that the $500 original deduction we will contact you by mail. You will then need to contact us to claim the new deduction and receive a IRS form 1098-C. The IRS form 1098-C is a 4 part form, 2 parts are filed and sent to the IRS, and the other 2 are sent to you. One for your records and one to turn in with your taxes. To receive the IRS 1098-C form you must receive a letter from the MN DAV and call with the donors social security number. Only the person named on the donated vehicle’s title can claim a deduction. After the IRS form 1098-C is received the original $500 deduction is deemed void.
